There’s a great post over at the 01 blog. Already put it on my shared Google Reader feed (which, just by the way, is a highly recommendable source of information
), but thought I’d also dedicate a short post on my own blog since the original post’s in German.
In his post, the author Sascha Lobo speculates about how the twitter trend could eventually manifest itself in the design and hardware specs of future mobile phones: The constant stream of activity messages tickering across the idle screen would place new requirements on display technology and batteries; the added benefit of location in microblogging would promote location aware devices (yes, this time for real!).
Sascha goes even further, adding that mobile network infrastructure itself might provide location information proactively, by embedding “location tags” into all sorts of communication signals. Great food for though, so be sure to see the original post if you speak (or read) German!
